Sooo.... we've kinda fallen off the face of the earth lately. But for good reason. Introducing Abbey Lynn, born March 18th. We kinda like her.

Ah, life. It's wonderful how it can move so quickly at times and time can get away from you. To make up for my guilt on taking so long to get these photos posted I'm making this an extra long post.

ShanAnn & Chris were married on a windy day in September at Hidden Valley Golf Club in Norco, Ca.

Something you may notice is that we tend to take a lot of photos of hands and feet, and especially so with this wedding. It's amazing how so much of the story and how many emotions can be told with just a small portion of the scene.

Melanie & James were married in the coolest lakeside wedding Lake Elsinore has ever seen. It's true, we don't lie.

The wedding featured a few subtle elements from The Nightmare Before Christmas, including one very subtle officiant.

What happens when you have a wedding on a mountain top with balloons and kilts? You get an extra long blog post.

Katie and Steve found us through Offbeat Bride, where our own wedding was profiled last year, and asked if we'd be willing to travel to Flagstaff, Arizona to photograph their wedding. Seeing how we love a good road trip and a good wedding we begrudgingly agreed. Ok, so it was more like "Are you freakin' kidding me? You can't keep us away."

As they each entered the ceremony site they ran towards each other and:

Thou Shalt Offer Salt

A couple of weeks ago Matthew had to make a few work-related deliveries in Indio and the Imperial Valley. What lies between those two points on a map? Only the place I've wanted to go to more than anywhere else in the world: the Salton Sea! We even took the wrong road that took us through Bombay Beach, which only made things better. Unfortunately we were on a deadline, so we didn't get the time to fully explore all of the beauty and ruin.

I want to hang this photo in a prominent place in my home. Is that weird?

ShanAnn & Chris met while working at the Fender Center in Corona, and since ShanAnn is on staff and has keys to the building it was the perfect location for their engagement session.

We love Lake Elsinore. It's the punk kid that's gotten a bad rap, yet has a heart of gold. Both Stephanie and I (Jess) grew up around here and remember the Clevelin Country Club building. In the 1920s Elsinore was a Hollywood hotspot, and the country club overlooking the lake was one of the cities more popular places. The building burned down in 2001, but the foundations still stand. Burned out gazebos, stairs to nowhere, wildflowers in bloom, and the most perfect February weather ever.

Seriously, the best sun flare to be found anywhere.

Thanks guys for being so adventurous, we can't wait for your wedding in May!

Life is starting to pick back up for us now that we're through the holiday season and all the colds that always seem to tag along. I've decided to start blogging some more random stuff from our lives because, why not?

That being said I'd like to tell you about the world's greatest shoes. TOMS!

I am a sneakers and flip-flops kind of girl. I CANNOT suffer through an uncomfortable pair of shoes no matter how stylish they may be. If my feet hurt then I shut down and can't go on. And if I wear heels I look like a drag queen. I have purchased too many shoes in vain looking for something that I can wear for weddings that are comfortable and disappear visually. Enter TOMS. They're like being barefoot. We both wear them for weddings and I've worn mine almost every day since I bought them last spring. I've even had to sew the toes closed after I wore them through. I guess it's time to pick up a new pair for wedding season. And I think I need the chocolate brown boots...
The best part about TOMS Shoes is that for every pair you buy a pair is given to a child in need somewhere in the world. So when it comes down to it, you're the most heartless person ever if you don't buy a pair today.

Something else that I am quite fond of these days are cupcakes. Upon moving to Southern California we quickly discovered Sprinkles Cupcakes. If we are ever anywhere remotely near Newport Beach we have to stop in and stock up. Since it's a little far for us I've determined to start creating the perfect cupcake on my own.

This last batch aren't exactly the prettiest things I've made so far, but they taste pretty darn good. Vanilla cake with cream cheese & dark chocolate frosting. They started off well, but once they came out of the oven they collapsed over the edges. But it's what inside that counts, right?

Day 2, Santa Rosa Plateau. The plateau is one of our favorite places in the valley. Hmm, plateau's aren't usually in valleys, are they?

True story: I (jess) have been wearing contacts for about 12 years. I have never, never lost a contact EVER. Until this day, about half way through the shoot. Luckily, Matthew was shooting as well, and these new-fangled camera's have auto-focus. So I framed the blur's in my viewfinder, and let the computer do the rest.

If we're not at home or in the studio, then we're across the street at Flour Fusion eating the best cheesecake you've ever had or an amazing mozzarella and tomato panini. It's true, drive by and you'll see us sitting in the window.

This past Sunday they hosted their first Cooking Class and we were there to capture every second of the action and sample the finished product.

They also have live music every weekend, including Open Mic Nights

I'd also like it if someone booked us for their wedding photography and also Flour Fusion for their cake because I know this has to taste as good as it looks and I'd really like to taste it...

We've been having a love/hate relationship with the Golden State since moving here in April. It's nice for me (Jess) to be back around people I know and the places I grew up, but the heat and overdeveloped landscape is killing us. But amazingly enough it only takes about an hour to get away from everyone.

This last Tuesday I (Jess again) woke up feeling under the weather and tired of people. So we took off to explore Northern San Diego County.

The Ecstatic Wisdom of the City of Angels

A few random updates on our life: First of all, we picked up a new camera today

What does this mean for you? We now have two good, working cameras instead of one and a half. Matthew is now able to take photos uninterrupted, at random, and without throwing the camera out the window. We also (finally) picked two flash units so we're no longer scared of the dark. Awesomeness is sure to ensue.

Matthew had 5 wisdom teeth (yes, 5) pulled this week. I left him alone for a few minutes and this is what I found when I came back:

Matt & Ashley were married this last weekend.
Coffee beans, brass knuckles, Bright Eyes, cowboy boots, Vans, and Dave Quiggle tattoos.

Once again, many of the best photos were taken by Matthew. I think his photos more than make up for him being responsible for Dust in the Wind being played for the money dance.
